Jewellery gift season: budget, occasion and recipient, and what to fix in your catalogue first

Jewellery is the category where a gift can say the wrong thing. Shoppers give you a person, a style they should avoid and a ceiling on price. Here is how those show up, and what to check in your catalogue before the season.

Three ways shoppers ask

  • Recipient: “gold, rose gold … doesn’t like flashy”, for a girlfriend who likes rings and necklaces. Taste is the brief.
  • Occasion and message: a ring may read as a hint at engagement, so shoppers ask for a pendant or earrings instead.
  • Budget: “budget up to 2k”, written into the sentence.
  • The fear underneath: being scammed. Shoppers want a reason they can check on the product card.

Prepare your catalogue before the season

  • State metal, stone and finish in each description, in plain words.
  • Say what a piece suits: understated, statement, everyday, formal.
  • Describe pendants and earrings as gift options, not only rings.
  • Keep price and stock current in Shopify; the assistant reads them from your catalogue by product ID.

What the assistant does with a gift request

It reads the request in the shopper’s words and picks one product from your catalogue with a one-line reason. The name, price and stock on the card come from your catalogue by product ID. The reason is written by the AI, labelled as such, and can be wrong. If nothing in your catalogue fits, it says so and, where your consent settings allow, takes a contact and writes the request to your Requests tab, so you see which gifts people wanted and you did not have.
