Zipchat alternative: a chatbot for support, or one answer for “what should I buy”

Zipchat is a support and sales chat. OneSite Assistant is not: it picks one product from your catalogue for a need the shopper describes. If you want a bot that handles order questions and customer messages, take a chat product. If your problem is the shopper who does not know what to buy, read on.

Choose Zipchat if

  • You want to automate customer support and sales conversations, not only product picking.
  • You need a helpdesk-style tool. Its listing describes AI chat, a chatbot and a helpdesk, and reviewers mention channels such as WhatsApp. We do none of this.

Choose OneSite Assistant if

  • The problem is the moment a shopper does not know which product to pick, not the stream of support questions.
  • You prefer a short answer, one product and a reason, to a conversation.
  • Your catalogue is niche. Perfume, jewellery, board games and books are where we put our work.

Side by side

Main job

Zipchat: AI chat for support and sales. OneSite Assistant: one product for a described need, with a reason.

What we do not do

No order-status or returns chat, no helpdesk, no messaging channels.

Invented products or prices

Not possible by design: name, price and stock are read from your catalogue by product ID, and the AI writes only the reason line.

Price

Zipchat, per its Shopify listing read on 2026-10-01: a free plan with a monthly cap on replies, paid tiers at $80, $300 and $600 a month, and a 7-day trial. Check its listing for today’s numbers. Ours is on the pricing page.

What merchants say about Zipchat

Reviews are mostly positive, and the praise goes to onboarding by named people and easy setup. We read them in October 2026. Complaints, in a minority:

  • Support that was slow in a few 2026 reviews.
  • Price jumps between plans.
  • Corrections and fit for specialised shops. One March 2026 Shopify App Store review says it works “very well with mainstream shops, but less well with niche shops”.
  • A 2024 review reports the widget still showing in the theme after uninstalling.

Using both

A support chat and a product picker can sit on the same store. If you already run a chat, the assistant adds the one thing it does not aim at: a single, reasoned pick.

Test it on your own shoppers’ words

Do not decide from a feature table, ours included. Open your store’s search log and take five real queries: two that found the right product, two that found nothing, one written as a sentence. Run them through the tool you use today and through the OneSite Assistant demo, and compare what comes back.

If the tool you already use answers them well, keep it. If the sentence-style queries come back empty, that is the gap we are built for.

Try it on your store

Install OneSite Assistant from the Shopify App Store. In the Shopify app you approve the plan right after install and start with a free trial. See the pricing and the questions worth asking before you install.
